Turlock is CSU Stanislaus's town, dairy country at the southern edge of Stanislaus County, and a city that's quietly built one of the better small-city downtowns in the valley. The Carnegie Arts Center anchors the cultural side; the Mainstreet shops handle the daytime.
Latif's still serves the breakfast that built it. Coffee is good, beer is good (Dust Bowl Brewing started here for a reason), and the taco scene runs deeper than it looks. State events bring in college energy on weekends.
